Curriculum Updates Paper folders came home today!
Reading: We are about to finish Flora and Ulysses. We were inspired by Ulysses and wrote poems about things and people that we love.
Math: We began our
geometry unit. We learned about rays, lines, line segments, and points. We explored various angles and are beginning to measure angles with a protractor.
Language Arts: We continue to work on our PBL (project-based learning) project. We are exploring the question How are different adaptations critical to survival in specific ocean zones?. At this point in the process, we are creating a 3D version of our creature and making a large ocean collaborative poster.
**Our PBL Culmination event will be on Thursday, February 20 from 10:30-11:00. Parents are invited to meet us in the assembly room to hear about the stages of our learning about animal adaptations. Guests will then travel to classrooms to see our creations!
Social Studies: We continued our American Civil War unit. This week, we learned about Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Ulysses S Grant. We discussed their early life, character traits, involvement in the war, and interesting bits about their lives.
