Curriculum Updates
Reading: We finished Flora and Ulysess by reflecting on theme and character development. We made an outline sketch of Flora and added adjectives and traits around the sketch. We ended the week doing a whole class Valentine themed readers theater. The girls really got into character!
Math: We continue the geometry unit. We practiced measuring angles with protractors. The third Leaping Numbers series is almost complete. Ask your daughter if they have figured out the pattern and if they have figured out the number for day 21.
Language Arts: We continue to work on our PBL (project-based learning) project. We are exploring the question How are different adaptations critical to survival in specific ocean zones?. At this point in the process, we made invitations that should have made their way home. We also created a script of information to share during the culmination and practice answering potential guest questions.
**Our PBL Culmination event will be on Thursday, February 20 from 10:30-11:00. Parents are invited to meet us in the assembly room to hear about the stages of our learning about animal adaptations. Guests will then travel to classrooms to see our creations!
Social Studies: We briefly reviewed what we have learned so far in our American Civil War unit. Once the PBL culmination is complete, we will get back to our normal social studies routine. ______________________________________________________
