This week's quote-of-the-week was "Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, and start being excited about what could go right." We observed our friends all week for showing bravery. Our class nominated Lilah Grace Wright!

Reading: We continue our reading of James and the Giant Peach. We are working on the skills of summarizing. We learned the strategy "SWBST". Ask your daughter to describe what the letters mean and how they help summarize any material. We also explored the actual animal creatures by creating a non-fiction poster created on CANVA.
Math: We are working on adding and subtracting large numbers using multiple methods. We ended the week reviewing preparing for an assessment on the material. We continue spiral reviewing place value and working on "esti-mysteries".
Language Arts: This week we created a persuasive booklet about a haunted house for sale! We are the agent trying to show the positives about such a unique house. We created an art piece of the house to display with the booklet. These will come home soon!
Social Studies: We learned more about the women's suffrage movement. The girls were asked to think about what they are passionate about.....what do they feel needs change or support? This will be used to create an "I am" poem as though they are a champion for that cause. After creating this, a "person" will be created with clothing that supports that cause. These will be hanging in the hall with their poems.
